Components and applications of automotive drive shafts
The transmission shaft is generally equipped with a sliding spline composed of a sliding fork and a spline shaft to realize the change of transmission length. In order to reduce the axial sliding resistance and wear of the sliding spline, sometimes the spline teeth are phosphated or sprayed with a nylon layer; some rolling elements such as needles, rollers or balls are placed in the spline groove, and rolling friction is used instead of Sliding friction to improve transmission efficiency. However, this structure is more complex and costly. Sometimes in order to transmit severe impact loads, a flexible drive shaft can also be used. The splines on the drive shaft should have lubrication and dust-proof measures. The gap between the spline teeth and the keyway should not be too large, and should be assembled according to the corresponding marks to avoid the wrong dynamic balance assembly of the drive shaft.
The length and angle of the drive shaft and its variation range are determined by the general layout design of the car. In the design, it should be ensured that when the length of the transmission shaft is large, the spline sleeve and the shaft have sufficient matching length; while the length is small, there is no top death. The angle of the transmission shaft directly affects the life of the universal joint cross shaft and needle roller bearing, the efficiency of the universal transmission and the non-uniformity of the cross shaft rotation.
The drive shaft is used in a variety of different host products, and the surrounding working environment is more complicated, such as temperature, humidity, water, steam, dust, sand, oil, acid, alkali, corrosive medium, salt water, radiation and other conditions. One of the important factors to be considered when choosing a coupling. For high temperature, low temperature, oil, acid, alkali medium work quality, it is not appropriate to use the general rubber as the elastic element of the coupling material, should choose the metal elastic element of the elastic coupling, such as diaphragm coupling, serpentine spring coupling.
