Technical requirements for automotive steering rods

1 The product shall meet the requirements of this standard and be manufactured in accordance with the drawings and documents approved by the prescribed procedures.

2 Performance

2.1 kinematics performance

The swing angle and swing moment of the ball pin along the axis of the tie rod shall meet the design requirements. When the sliding surface is well lubricated, the moving parts shall not be blocked, stuck or loose.

2.2 wear resistance

The wear resistance of the ball pin and the ball seat should be adapted and matched with each other. Under normal conditions of use, when the mileage of the car does not exceed 30000 kilometers, there should be no local strong wear or early wear.

2.3 threaded connection

The threaded connection between the tie rod and the joint of the coupling steering tie rod assembly shall meet the requirements. Under normal use conditions, loosening and tripping are not allowed. The accuracy of the threaded connection shall not be less than 7H/6e on the long rotation length. According to GB 197-81 General Thread Tolerance Fit, the parts can be interchanged and freely adjusted within the full length of the thread.

2.4 lubrication and dustproof

2.4.1 The lubrication channel of the pull rod assembly shall be unblocked. Under normal assembly and adjustment conditions, the grease injected by the grease gun through the grease nipple shall be able to lubricate the sliding working surface.

2.5 stability

The strength and rigidity of each part of the tie rod assembly shall be adapted to the design and use requirements. When the mileage of the car does not exceed 180000 kilometers, under normal conditions of use, the tie rod body, joint, ball pin and tie rod spring are not allowed to break. When the assembly is in a normal adjustment state, the ball pin must not be removed from the assembly.

3 Appearance

The surface of each part of the 3.1 pull rod assembly shall be free of cracks, burrs and sharp edges, and the processed parts shall be free of dents and protrusions; the non-processed parts shall be free of defects such as folding, oxidation and corrosion.

1.3.2 The non-mating surface of the pull rod assembly shall be coated, and the coating shall be uniform (no bubbles, water leakage and overflow, and shall be combined with the coated surface, and there shall be no wrinkles and peeling within the temperature range of -40~70°C.
