Structural Characteristics of Automobile Transmission Shaft

The drive shaft is an indispensable part of a car, just like a person cannot live without an arm. The drive shaft is composed of a shaft tube, a telescopic sleeve and a universal joint. The telescopic sleeve can automatically adjust the distance between the transmission and the drive axle. The universal joint is to ensure the change of the two axis angles of the transmission output shaft and the drive axle input shaft, and to realize the equal angular velocity transmission of the two shafts. General universal joints have cross shafts, cross bearings and flange forks. The drive shaft universal joints used in Steyr series heavy vehicles adopt roller cross shaft bearings. The cross shaft is short and thick, and can transmit large torque. There is a Belleville spring at the end of the bearing to compress the roller. A reinforced nylon gasket with a spiral groove is added to the end face of the cross shaft to prevent sintering when transmitting power at a large included angle or large torque.

This kind of transmission shaft adds a tubular sealing protective sleeve outside the flange spline shaft, and two polyurethane rubber oil seals are arranged at the end of the protective sleeve, so that a completely sealed space is formed in the expansion sleeve, so that the expansion spline The shaft is not eroded by external sand and dust, not only dustproof, but also rustproof. Therefore, in the assembly, in the spline shaft and sleeve one-time application of grease can fully meet the use requirements, and do not need to install the nozzle lubrication, reducing the maintenance content.

The drive shaft is a rotating body with high speed and little support, so its dynamic balance is very important. Generally speaking, the drive shaft must be tested for dynamic balance before leaving the factory and adjusted on the balancing machine. Therefore, a set of drive shafts are matched at the factory, and special attention should be paid to them during use.

Heavy trucks choose different types of drive shafts according to different driving forms. Generally speaking, a 4 × 2 drive car has only one main drive shaft. 6 × 4 drive cars have intermediate drive shafts, main drive shafts, and middle and rear axle drive shafts. The 6 × 6 drive type of car not only has the intermediate drive shaft, the main drive shaft and the middle and rear axle drive shafts, but also the front axle drive shaft. In long-wheelbase cars, the intermediate drive shaft is generally equipped with a drive shaft intermediate support. It consists of a support frame and a bracket.

The traditional structure of the transmission shaft telescopic sleeve is that the spline sleeve and the flange fork are welded together, and the spline shaft is welded on the transmission shaft tube. GWB's drive shaft changes the traditional structure, welding the spline sleeve and the drive shaft tube together to make the spline shaft and the flange fork become one. And change the rectangular tooth spline to large pressure angle involute short tooth spline

Summary:

The drive shaft is an indispensable part of a car, just like a person cannot live without an arm. The drive shaft is composed of a shaft tube, a telescopic sleeve and a universal joint. The telescopic sleeve can automatically adjust the distance between the transmission and the drive axle.
