Composition and function of automobile chassis

The car chassis consists of four parts: transmission system, drive system, steering system and braking system.

The role of the chassis is to support and install the car engine and its parts and assemblies to form the overall shape of the car, and receive the power of the engine to make the car move and ensure that the car can run normally.

1. Drive system

The transmission system consists of clutch, transmission, transmission shaft, universal joint, final drive, differential and transmission half shaft.

The function of the transmission system is to transmit the power of the engine to the driving wheels to drive the car.

The transmission system has the functions of deceleration, shifting, reversing, power interruption, inter-wheel differential and inter-axle differential. It works with the engine to ensure the normal driving of the car under various working conditions.

2. Drive system

The drive system generally consists of a frame, axle, wheels and suspension.

The function of the automobile drive system is to convert the torque from the transmission system into the traction of the ground on the automobile; to withstand various forces and moments from the outside on the automobile; to reduce vibration, alleviate impact, and ensure normal and stable driving of the automobile.

3. Steering system

The steering system is composed of steering wheel, steering column, steering gear, steering power mechanism, etc.

The function of the steering system is to ensure that the car can drive straight or turn according to the driver's wishes. According to the different steering energy, the steering system of a car is divided into two categories: mechanical steering system and power steering system.

4. Brake system

The function of the brake system is to slow down the car or stop it in a short distance as needed. The brake system generally consists of a service brake and a parking brake. Service brakes can be divided into disc brakes and drum brakes. At present, disc brakes are widely used in automobile braking systems.

(1) Service brake The service brake is a braking device operated by the driver's foot and is often used during driving. This brake is installed on all wheels of the car.

(2) Parking brake The parking brake is a braking device operated by the driver's hand, mainly used to prevent the car from slipping after parking. The parking brake can be used temporarily when the service brake fails or when starting on a slope. In ordinary cars (cars), the brake system is only equipped with a service brake and a parking brake.

Summary:

The role of the chassis is to support and install the car engine and its parts and assemblies to form the overall shape of the car, and receive the power of the engine to make the car move and ensure that the car can run normally.
